THANK YOU

A HUGE THANK-YOU to the Dobrow Family for donating fans for the classroom and the Carlsson Family for donating a portable air conditioner to use.  This has really helped the room cool down and has provided a much more comfortable learning environment for your children.  Thanks!!!

A Few Notes ...

  • With the weather being hot, hot, hot this week, please send your child with a water bottle to school.  They can keep the water bottle and their desks and refill them during the day as necessary!
  • The kids were quite excited to hear that their parents/guardians had homework this week! :)  In order to get to know your child better, please fill out the "Introducing Your Child Form."  This form can be found in your child's green homework folder, or on the third grade website: Parent Information.  Please turn in this form by Friday.
  • If you haven't done so yet, please e-mail me your child's transportation schedule for the week.  This will ensure a smooth transition at the end of the day.
  • Be sure to continually check the News Blog and Third Grade website for updates!  As always, feel free to contact me with any questions or comments!  I'm looking forward to a great year!

Happy First Day!

What a great ... and hot first day we had!  At the end of the day today students received "goody bags" giving them a hint as to what their third grade year would entail.  They each received the following items and note in their bag:

Welcome to 3rd Grade!
I would like to welcome you to our third grade class.  I look forward to an exciting year with you.  To help you understand what you can expect from our classroom, I have put together a few items in a bag that signify different classroom expectations.
- Eraser: To show you that it’s okay to make mistakes in our classroom.
- Pencil: Know that you are just “write” for our class!
- Sharpener: You will sharpen your skills throughout the year.
- Fun-Dough: We will have a lot of fun together this year.  You will also have many opportunities to use your imagination and be creative!
- Heart Sticker: Our classroom will be a caring environment.
- Sports Attitude Band:  To signify that we will always work together as a team!

Welcome!

I am very excited to be your child’s third grade teacher this year; third grade is such a fun and memorable school year!  I'm looking forward to working with you and your child in reaching his or her full potential.  We will have many wonderful experiences and opportunities to learn and grow in the days, weeks, and months ahead.  I have high expectations for each of my students, which I know they can rise to.  In all academic areas I will incorporate team-building skills and focus on creating life-long learners.  I'll work towards reaching all of the diverse learning potentials and styles of students, making sure instruction is appropriately differentiated for each of them.  My focus will be on teaching problem-solving skills and using higher level thinking skills in all areas.  The main thing that I ask of my students is that they always put forth their best effort.  I am looking forward to seeing your child on the first day of school, Monday, August 26th!
